Internet bubble ended before telecom crash, Tren Griffin notes
Internet bubble burst before telecom collapse

Tren Griffin highlights that the internet bubble burst in March of 2000, almost a year before the telecom bubble ended.

He explains that while the internet bubble fueled the telecom bubble for a time, the dynamics of the two events were different. According to him, a key similarity toward the end was that participants in both bubbles ultimately found themselves without cash.

Griffin has previously commented on market behaviors in the late 1990s, noting that private secondary share sales before IPOs often relied on informal sourcing. More recently, he observed that Philippine inflation jumped to 7.2 percent in April 2026 from 4.1 percent in March. Both posts focus on discrete market challenges over different periods.
