Iran collects $1.5 billion in vessel taxes

Mario Nawfal, founder & CEO at IBC Group, reports that since the ceasefire, 363 vessels have transited the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian protection.

During this time, Iran has reportedly collected approximately $1.5 billion in taxes from these transits, turning the passage through the Strait into a significant source of revenue.

Nawfal has previously reported on regional financial dealings, including the news that Iran International reportedly received $825 million in debt relief before a transfer to a Saudi-linked Cayman Islands entity. He has also covered developments in the private sector, noting that the SpaceX IPO filing triggered a rally in space and satellite stocks. The recent transit fees collected by Iran add to this series of significant financial events in the region.
