Mohamed A. El-Erian: U.S. average gas price slips below $4 a gallon
U.S. gas price dips under $4

Mohamed A. El-Erian, president at Queens' College, University of Cambridge, highlights that the national average price of regular gas in the U.S. has dipped below $4 a gallon for the first time in over three months.

He expects this downward trend in gas prices to continue.

El-Erian has previously drawn attention to rising concerns about U.S. fiscal health, sharing John Plender’s warning on growing rollover risk as public debt nears record highs. He also noted that at the end of 2025, the share of gold in official global reserves surpassed both the euro and U.S. Treasuries, reaching 27% according to his analysis. These observations add context to his current focus on falling U.S. gas prices.
