Mohamed A. El-Erian: GCC states shift from capital suppliers to active borrowers for infrastructure
GCC states become active infrastructure borrowers

Mohamed A. El-Erian, president at Queens' College, University of Cambridge, observes that GCC states are moving beyond their traditional role as major global providers of capital.

According to El-Erian, these countries are now also becoming active borrowers in order to fund domestic strategic infrastructure projects.

El-Erian previously joined CNBC's Squawk on the Street to discuss current developments in the U.S. economy, markets, and Federal Reserve policy. He has also commented on sharp price movements as Brent crude traded in the mid-$70s and WTI topped $70 during U.S.–Iran tensions. His recent remarks highlight evolving approaches to capital in the Gulf region.
