Qualys urges overhaul as old remediation models fail against advanced threats
Qualys warns on remediation pace

Qualys reports that the longstanding security model—where defenders relied on rapid remediation to outrun attackers—is no longer effective.

According to its latest Threat Research Unit report, titled The Broken Physics of Remediation, Qualys analyzed over one billion CISA data points to illustrate how current patching strategies and mean time to remediation (MTTR) are proving insufficient against evolving cyber threats. This shift challenges organizations to reassess their remediation frameworks and adopt new defenses as attackers close the gap.

Qualys has previously identified critical vulnerabilities in Linux security tools. Earlier this year, the company revealed nine serious AppArmor flaws that increased security risks for organizations. The firm also urged urgent kernel patches after discovering nine AppArmor vulnerabilities affecting more than 12 million Linux systems.
