Hawaiian Electric upgrades Honolulu grid

Hawaiian Electric has initiated a series of repairs and network upgrades in downtown Honolulu and Chinatown. The timing coincides with the beginning of Small Business Week and National Matcha Day, signaling efforts to support local businesses.

Crews and contractors are working to enhance the area's infrastructure, with digital communications specialist Haley Kunimura representing the company. These upgrades are aimed at bolstering business operations and improving service reliability in a busy commercial hub. Additional updates may be provided as the project progresses.

Hawaiian Electric recently began utility pole upgrades along Waialae Nui Ridgeline, using helicopters to minimize public disruption in East Oahu, according to a prior report. The company has also recognized internal talent, promoting Charles Agngarayngay to shift supervisor at the Kahe Power Plant as noted earlier. Both efforts form part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen Hawaii's energy infrastructure and management.
