Hawaiian Electric announced that Christian Whitney, its director of Pole Infrastructure Enterprise, has been named Women Small Business Champion of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration Hawaii District Office.

In addition to her leadership role at Hawaiian Electric, Whitney is recognized as the founder of Lilikoi Project Hawaii, an initiative focused on empowering small businesses in the local community. This award comes during National Small Business Week and highlights Whitney’s commitment to entrepreneurship and enterprise development in Hawaii.

Hawaiian Electric has recently recognized internal talent, naming Charles Agngarayngay shift supervisor at the Kahe Power Plant (read more). The utility continues to manage infrastructure improvements, including a planned partial closure of Farrington Hwy in Waianae for utility pole replacement and cable installation (details here).
