Hawaiian Electric plans lane closure

Hawaiian Electric announced that crews will carry out work on Wednesday, 4/29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the east end of the Mailiili Beach parking lot in Waianae.

The project involves replacing a utility pole and installing overhead cable crossing Farrington Highway. As part of the upgrade, the right westbound lane on Farrington Hwy between Mailiili Road and the Waianae Wastewater facility will be partially closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to plan for possible delays and seek alternate routes during the maintenance period. Details regarding further traffic advisories or follow-up work will be updated as needed.

Hawaiian Electric has recently announced several infrastructure upgrades across Oahu. Earlier this month, the company closed a westbound lane on Kuhio Avenue in Waikiki for underground cable replacement and upgrades. Crews also began upgrading utility poles along the Waialae Nui ridgeline, using helicopters to minimize public disruption in East Oahu. These projects are part of ongoing efforts to modernize the island’s electrical grid.
