Ryan Petersen, industry influencer, reported that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) told the Court of International Trade it had rejected 49% of refund claims on the first review—initially declining 37% of filings and rejecting an additional 18% of entries among the accepted files.
Petersen contrasted this with Flexport's performance, noting a 3% rejection rate for refund filings made for its customers.
Petersen has previously focused on discrepancies in U.S.-China trade data. He highlighted a $112 billion gap in export values declared to Chinese and U.S. authorities. That report flagged concerns about trade fraud between the two countries.
