Market gains driven by GDP, EPS growth

Stephanie Link, managing director and portfolio manager at Hightower Advisors, discusses recent stock market performance, pointing out that SPX has risen 17% and QQQ is up 27% since the March 30 lows.

She attributes these gains to robust economic data, with U.S. GDP at 3.7% and corporate EPS up 25%. Additionally, total return increased by 11%, while margins for the equal weight index expanded to 14.3%, approaching prior highs of 14.5%. Productivity continues to show positive growth.

Link has previously highlighted strong performance in individual companies. She reported on ROK exceeding expectations in discrete, hybrid, and process segments, alongside higher operating margins. In a separate note, she cited EL's 40 percent EPS growth and $1 billion in Asia Pacific sales.
