Ouster unveils SDK feature for generating both digital terrain models and canopy data
Ouster adds dual survey tools

Ouster has introduced a new capability in its software development kit (SDK) that enables users to generate both digital terrain models (DTMs) and powerline or canopy data from a single platform.

The tool allows for the extraction of bare ground data by removing vegetation and structures for DTMs, and conversely, focuses on above-ground features for powerline and canopy work. This update aims to streamline deliverables for surveyors using Ouster technology.

Ouster recently added instant 3D map generation within its software, allowing users to create maps from lidar files without relying on external SLAM pipelines, according to a previous release. The company also launched the Rev8 OS1 Max lidar device to address requirements for U.S. infrastructure and defense mapping projects as regulations focus on domestic sourcing, as reported earlier. These product developments reflect Ouster’s efforts to enhance mapping workflows and meet regulatory needs.
