Expanded token incentives attract new capital and widen DeFi adoption

Pendle Finance has increased the cap for its PT Looping incentives program to $15 million, expanding access to two tokenized yield pools including PT-USD3 on Morpho and PT-USDG on both Aave and Morpho. The program runs from August 17 to August 27, 2026, offering eligible participants an additional 2% APY in PENDLE tokens and advertising returns up to 53.7% APY. This initiative is designed to broaden leveraged DeFi strategies and adoption of principal tokens as collateral within the ecosystem.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees recent enthusiasm around Pendle as driven by incentive boosts and yield strategies, but remains cautious. He highlights overbought technical signals such as the Stochastic RSI at 100 and mixed momentum from MACD. The surge above all major moving averages could encourage further gains, but divergence among indicators suggests underlying instability. Kharitonov notes that profit-taking may intensify if $1.452 fails, risking a deeper correction. "Despite strong headlines, I view the setup as vulnerable to reversals if momentum falters," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, believes the expansion of Pendle’s PT Looping incentives cap demonstrates growing institutional engagement and innovation in DeFi. He points out that bullish structure remains intact as PENDLE trades above all major moving averages, confirming underlying demand for leveraged yield solutions. Strong buy signals and notable APYs reinforce confidence in further adoption. Karapetjanc sees robust momentum and high returns attracting a wider user base through 2026. "With upside targets in play and fundamentals improving, I expect further growth as more capital rotates into the protocol," he forecasts.
Jainam Mehta, market strategist, sees PENDLE trading at an inflection point after its sharp move higher and news-driven flows. He notes that oscillator divergence and extreme Stochastic RSI offer contrarian tactical setups for quick trades. Mehta suggests watching for a breakout above $1.522 or an intraday mean reversion to $1.452. "I’d look for a short-term swing depending on whether volatility resolves to the upside or triggers a pullback," he advises.

Mixed momentum amid resistance challenges and technical buying strength

PENDLE/USD is trading above the 20-day ($1.3587), 50-day ($1.4514), and 200-day ($1.3875) moving averages, reinforcing a bullish structure across short, medium, and long-term timeframes. The nearest resistance is at $1.522, with support at $1.452, and the Ichimoku Kijun at $1.4125 provides another layer of support. Daily momentum is mixed, with MACD signaling a strong sell and ADX neutral. The RSI is at 56.1394, showing room for continuation, while the Stochastic RSI at 100 signals extreme overbought conditions. The CCI points to a buy, and Bull/Bear Power (BBP) at 0.0979 indicates buyers dominate intraday momentum, echoing the strong buy signal. Intraday volatility stands at 6.88%. The pair opened with an upside gap of about 11.52%, is now mid-range for the day, and trades with strength toward the highs. Divergence among oscillators and momentum measures points to a tug-of-war between profit-taking and persistent buying.

Previously it was reported that Pendle had entered a bearish phase characterized by strong downside momentum and persistent selling pressure. The current shift to a bullish technical structure and heightened volatility signals a potential reversal, with traders now watching for a sustained break above resistance at $1.522 to confirm renewed upward momentum.
